Completion of a Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing), or equivalent aged care experience, is recommended but is not an entry requirement.
Stella College admission requirements
- Completion of Stella College's pre-training review, including the LLN and digital literacy assessment.
- Sufficient spoken and written English for supervisory-level communication and documentation, including care planning, reporting and liaising with families and health professionals.
- A Unique Student Identifier (USI).
- Reliable access to a computer and the internet for online learning components. It is the student’s responsibility to source the device and an internet connection when studying blended or online delivery. If due to any reason you are unable to do so, kindly get in touch with us to discuss your options.
- Applicants must be at least 18 years of age for this course, reflecting host organisation requirements for aged care placements.
Work placement
To be awarded this qualification you must complete at least 120 hours of work placement, as detailed in the assessment requirements of the units of competency, in an aged care service. Students already employed in a relevant role may be able to meet placement requirements in their workplace subject to College and employer approval.
Screening and checks required before placement
- Worker screening as required of aged care workers under applicable aged care legislation and the host organisation's policy. Depending on the host and current legislative arrangements, this is a National Police Check and/or an NDIS Worker Screening Check clearance.
- Immunisations as required by the host organisation, commonly including current influenza vaccination.
- The costs of checks and immunisations are met by the student.
Physical requirements
This course involves personal care, manual handling and mobility assistance tasks, together with extended periods on your feet. Consider these requirements before applying, and raise any concerns or support needs at the pre-training review.
