Course Description

This program is designed for both new entrants who need a broad introduction to the industry and for current workers in aged care, disability, or home and community care who want to build on their knowledge and career prospects. The qualification prepares you to undertake roles involving the design, delivery, and evaluation of leisure, health, and lifestyle programs for clients across one or more care sectors.

You could be working in residential care facilities, community agencies, or day centres, responsible for specialised tasks related to leisure and health services. While you will be accountable for your own work, you will perform these duties under direct or indirect supervision within established organisational guidelines.

The Certificate IV in Leisure and Health equips you to assess the behaviours of clients requiring support and develop leisure programs aimed at enhancing their daily lives. These programs go beyond clinical care to include interactive, recreational, and health-focused activities designed to improve wellbeing.

Work Placement

At least 120 hours of supervised work placement should be completed.

Students are required to arrange their own placement, with support from Stella College provided on an as-needed basis.

Students can also request support from Stella College Placement team to find placement for the students.

Students can use their current workplace for placement (Has to be approved by Stella College before beginning the placement)

Each unit with a placement component includes a work placement assessment task.

Study Pathways

Upon completing the CHC43415 Certificate IV in Leisure & Health, students can choose to further develop their skills and qualifications through advanced courses. The next steps might include:

•  The CHC43015 – Certificate IV in Ageing Support, which offers more comprehensive training on the complexities of caring for older adults across different care settings.
•  The CHC43121 Certificate IV in Disability Support, focuses on enhancing skills to tailor support for people living with disabilities.
• The CHC52025 Diploma in Community Services (This qualification is not delivered by Stella College at present) provides advanced knowledge and skills to support individuals and communities through effective service delivery and advocacy.
• The CHC53415 Diploma of Leisure and Health (This qualification is not delivered by Stella College at present) focuses on developing and managing leisure and health programs that enhance wellbeing and promote active lifestyles in diverse care environments.
